KJ Kabza - Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, and Regular-Type

News - a record of world domination unfolding in real time

  • October 30, 2011: Bad news! "Neighbors: A Definitive Odyssey," my fine tale of adventure and intrigue set inside a dictionary, will not appear in "Liminality: Tales from the Borders of Speculative Fiction" because the publisher has pulled the anthology. Good news! "Neighbors: A Definitive Odyssey," my fine tale of etc. etc., will instead appear in "WTF?!," an anthology from the wise folks over at Pink Narcissus Press.
  • October 25, 2011: The wonderfully warped people at Brain Harvest will publish "The Expurgated Version," a flash piece of mine, on November 27th. You may run around in circles until then in fervid anticipation.
  • August 22, 2011: Go read "Get Happy" and, well, get happy. Then go read my new author interview at F&SF, where I talk about "The Ramshead Algorithm" and give you further glimpses into the questionable milieu that is my imagination.
  • August 12, 2011: Every Day Fiction and Quantum Kiss, two online magazines that host some of my free online fiction, are having some hosting difficulties. As long as these sites are down, email me with the name of the free online story (or stories) you can't access, and I'll send it/them to you. Sorry for the trouble!
  • July 21, 2011: You all DID know that Julia Rios interviewed me as a bonus feature in my ebook, right?

  • June 21, 2011: Despite the fact that I am not Canadian, I've sold "Get Happy" (one of my many former Honorable Mentions in the WOTF contest) to AE: The Canadian Science Fiction Review. (But I've visited Canada twice. Maybe that was enough?)

Like Heaven and Hell: Erotic Tales of Angels & Demons
  • April 11, 2011: Bee-tee-double-you. The Library of Science Fiction & Fantasy Press has taken my story "Neighbors: A Definitive Odyssey" for the anthology "Liminality: Tales from the Borders of Speculative Fiction." Good thing too. If a story set inside a dictionary isn't liminal, I don't know what is.

  • November 8, 2010: Double double story story update update! Both "Boulder No. III," which shows you a side of Sisyphus you've never seen before, and "The Perfect Find," in which one family can't see the line between trash and treasure, are now live.
  • October 13, 2010: You may now go dig the fanciful little flash "How the Snake Got the Fork in His Tongue" and offer an encouraging/excoriating opinion with Every Day Fiction's comment feature.
  • October 11, 2010: www.kjkabza.com: now interdigitated with occasional doodles of random weirdo crap! Because "I think your website needs some pictures or something" [source: friend].
  • September 27, 2010: Every Day Fiction (who brought you such fine tales as "Flow," "Epiphany Sale," and "One-Sided") has agreed to publish my tongue-in-cheek Just-So Story homage, "How the Snake Got the Fork in His Tongue."
  • September 21, 2010: Did you miss the part where Flash Fiction Online published "Now Open" earlier this month? If so, that's okay. I won't tell anyone. (But you better go read it now, before anyone notices your lapse in vigilance.)
  • August 26, 2010: On December 1, New Myths will be publishing the tragic, fantastic "Scales Made Manifest," which last year received an Honorable Mention in the Writers of the Future contest—and Flash Fiction Online has accepted the tongue-in-cheek "Now Open" (publication date TBD). I must be twice as awesome as usual today.
